Lower Town operated independently while Toompea Hill was residential area for the aristocracy. Old Town s walls & fortresses made up one the strongest defensive structures northern Europe by the 16th century & its dominating landmark built 1894 still the Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral.
Tallinn s Zoo has close to 6 000 animals making favorite with tourists & another top-draw Rocca al Mare Tivoli Estonia s largest amusement park. The Botanical Garden worth visit as covers over 110 hectares & has more than 8 000 plant species brought from all over the world.
